We danced up the perfect cover for Ministry of Sound.
Secondcity is a DJ and producer, signed to iconic dance label Ministry of Sound. For his massive house hit “Never Been In Love”, Cover Your Tracks were asked to create cover art, digital advertising and an animated packshot.
To create artwork inspired by classic disco cover art of the 70s & 80s. The cover should feel summery and positive, retro yet contemporary.
Overwhelmingly positive reception to the cover art & animated packshot across the board. “Never Been In Love” has since amassed over 1.5m streams on Spotify alone.

Summer vibes for modern disco
The client brief called for summery, positive & uplifting cover art, in keeping with the general feel of the track. The brief referenced a lot of vintage, soul & disco-related imagery – like old Salsoul covers.
Cover Your Tracks began a wide sweep of options, everything from abstract, illustrated options, to vintage photography, and combined this with typography designed to sit somewhere between contemporary and classic.
Eventually the options were whittled down to two routes – one an early iteration of the final cover.
Combining a dramatic sunset scene with lipstick-neon typography, the image calls to mind the halcyon days of disco, in retro-tinged Polaroids and summer vibes.
Bringing the artwork to life
We then adapted the artwork to produce all of the supporting collateral, from banners to social media headers. Also requested was a packshot or ‘pseudo’ video. This is a video combining animated cover art with audio, for platforms such as YouTube.
Recreating the artwork in Adobe After Effects, we animated the cover art using a combination of footage and motion graphics. Eventually everything was combined within Adobe Premiere Pro for the final video.
